Cozy Christmas Home

I haven’t been this EXCITED about the Christmas season since I was probably 9 years old. The husband and I missed last Christmas at home, so it’s our first Christmas together as a married couple! We were in Southeast Asia last Christmas in warm summer weather (awkward) with no family, no friends, no Christmas church service, no presents. It was lonely.

This year, I am just revelling in the Christmas season. I decked the house in holiday cheer, all I eat is holiday treats, and I’m listening to Christmas tunes far too much… normally I’d be sick of Christmas music by now, but not this year. We picked up our tree a few days after Thanksgiving, but it took me this long to snap some photos of it. Our home has never felt more cozy! Can it be Christmas forever???

Julia - Anastasia- Yes, I drew the letters in reverse on the back of the glitter paper and cut them out by hand.

And that pillow is on my couch year round, but upon closer inspection I thought it looked sorta Christmasy.

Bron - Wow, your place looks amazing! I love your tree. It’s so big, which is awesome. I don’t think we can even get live trees over here, especially ones so large. It looks really special – you’ve done a good job!

Makes me even more miss a cold and snowy Christmas (here in Melbourne we have 27 degrees) and my family and the great food my grandmom is always preparing…

In the Kitchen

The holidays put me in the mood for baking. And eating. I bookmarked this recipe ages ago, and finally decided to give it a go one night. It was amazing. Our home smelled so warm and cinnamony and it made me so very happy. Husband’s not too keen on sweets, so I ate nearly the entire loaf on my own… and I can’t say I regret it. xo- J

P.S. We are the proud new owners of a 35mm 1.4 lens, as of last weekend (thanks to Craigslist & a hot deal)! It’s been on my list for a long time. I shot all of these with the new lens at f/1.4.

Camp Booklet

I got to design some neat stuff for my church’s youth camp this past summer. I am always really excited to see my designs in print, so I snapped some photos of the camp booklet. Every camper received a copy of this, which includes a schedule, campground map, teams, leaders, and a space for notes.

The theme for camp this year was Tetris and the name was “United 4:1″ based on the Bible verse Phillipians 4:1. I totally had fun with the Tetris/eighties look!
