My Windowsill

I’ve always adored kitchen windowsills covered with cute little pots and plants. Our kitchen sink faces a window, which is ideal [looking out a window while washing dishes is so much more enjoyable than facing a wall, right?]. Since we moved in during spring time 6 months ago, I’ve been meaning to plant something green and living on the windowsill. Needless to say, spring and summer flew right by me, but I got the windowsill in order just in time for fall. Now I want to spend more time at the kitchen sink so I can look at my pretty new succulents and mushrooms [which Yuriy is just thrilled about].

I’ve never planted anything before this! I’ve been told succulents are near impossible to kill, but I’m still hoping for the best through the winter. Have you planted anything in your home? How’d it go?

P.S. The little teardrop glass terrariums were wedding favors from a wedding we photographed this summer! I think they are the perfect addition to my collection.

Julia - Hi Rachel! I appreciate the re-introduction! I was only watering mine once per week, but they were beginning to yellow/shrivel so I cut back and they’re looking plump and healthy once again. It’s amazing how little water they need to survive. I read somewhere online that in the wintertime, they need to be watered once every couple months!

Bron - Yes, overwatering can definitely kill them. I think too much time in an artificial environment (like a closed, air-conditioned office) isn’t good for them either, but that shouldn’t be a problem for you!
